The U.S. Forest Service has successfully acquired 130 acres of private land from the Wagon Tongue Company for conservation and land management purposes. This property, located just south of Lake George, sits between the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and Eleven Mile Reservoir.

The Conservation Fund played a crucial role in this acquisition by purchasing the property and collaborating with the Forest Service to secure funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Now under public ownership, the land will be used for conservation, recreation, and wildfire prevention efforts.
