Travelers in the region should take note of two significant updates:

  • U.S. 50 Middle Bridge: The bridge over Blue Mesa Reservoir has reopened to two-way traffic, providing smoother travel for drivers. However, the Lake Fork Bridge, located five miles to the west, remains restricted to one lane. Construction on the Lake Fork Bridge is expected to be completed by December.
  • Browns Canyon National Monument Road Project: Work has started on widening Chaffee County Road 300, which runs along Sugarloaf Mountain near the Arkansas River and Ruby Mountain Campground. As a result, County Road 300 is closed at mile marker 2. Additionally, a full closure of the Arkansas River is in effect from Fisherman’s Bridge southeast to Ruby Mountain Campground, impacting public water users. Construction in this area is also expected to continue through December.
