June 25, 1952 ~ July 21, 2024

Timothy Eugene O’Connor, 72, from Nathrop passed away in the early hours of July 21, 2024, at Briarwood Nursing Home in Denver. Tim or Timmy, as he was known to family and friends, had fought a long battle for recovery following major back surgery. Early into his recovery, complications with his heart set in and forced him to be bedridden. And thus began a long spiral downward until the end.

Tim was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. He had an old-style chopper powered by an early model shovel head motor that he rode whenever possible. And in those early hours of July 21, Tim made his final ride west.

Tim was a lifelong resident of the Nathrop area. He graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1970. After graduation, he became employed by Climax Mine in Climax, Colorado. Along with riding his motorcycle, he liked to fish, snow ski, study taekwondo and go 4-wheel driving in his old Willy’s Jeep. He strongly believed in motorcycle safety and joined Colorado ABATE or A Brotherhood Active Towards Education. He became a regional officer in that club.

Friends and relatives will always remember his great sense of humor. He could make the darkest days seem like a summer breeze.

Tim was preceded in death by his brother Patrick and his father, William George O’Connor Sr. and mother, Dolores Cathlyn O’Connor, all from Nathrop. He is survived by sister Cheryl Heyward of Silver Spring, Maryland, brother James O’Connor of Glenwood Springs, brother William O’Connor jr. of Aurora, brother Jerry O’Connor of Naples, Florida, sister Maureen O’Connor of Buena Vista and sister Cathy Ashley of Villa Grove.

A Rosary will take place at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Buena Vista on August 6, at 7 PM and the Funeral Services will be August 7, at 11 AM.

If you attend the Funeral Service on Wednesday the 7th, the Family asks that you dress casually in your favorite biker attire to honor Tim.
