More Snow On The Way – Weather for Thursday, February 6

A slight chance of snow today with snow increasing in coverage tonight into tomorrow. A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect along the Divide and areas west tonight. 

Prolonged snow is expected over the mountains through Saturday morning. A foot of new snow could fall above 10,000 feet with the heaviest snowfall expected to occur tomorrow, and that’s when the lower elevations could see 1-3 inches.

Strong northwesterly winds will be gusting to 50 mph creating reduced visibility and hazardous travel conditions.    

Salida and Buena Vista will see a high of 41 today; an overnight low of 25. 

The San Luis Valley can expect a high of 29, a low of 17.

Leadville and Fairplay will see a high of 21, a low of 9.

The next storm system to affect our area arrives on Sunday.
