Thunderstorms will persist over the mountains this afternoon and evening with the greatest chance for strong storms along and near the Divide. The main risk will be heavy rain and flash flooding.
Cooler and drier weather is expected on Friday, although isolated thunderstorms are possible through the weekend.
Salida and Buena Vista can expect a high of 79 today. Look for an overnight low of 51.
The San Luis Valley will see a high of 75, a low of 47.
Leadville and Fairplay will warm up to 63 with a low of 37.

His radio career has had stops in Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma, and eventually, Colorado. He and his wife Carrie spend their days doing everything the mountains have to offer: hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. They've raised 3 children and have 2 grandchildren.
