The Colorado State Patrol, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, is spearheading the July Click It or Ticket campaign, running through the end of the month. This initiative aims to increase seat belt usage across the state.
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has reported that seat belt use in Colorado is significantly below the national average. The urgency of this campaign is underscored by the fact that July of last year was the deadliest month in Colorado history, with 91 traffic fatalities. Alarmingly, 30 of those deaths involved unbuckled drivers and passengers.
Authorities hope that this campaign will raise awareness about the importance of wearing seat belts and ultimately save lives on Colorado roads.
