Teller County Assault Victim Identified as Briena Louise Karlik, Remains in Critical Condition

Authorities have released the name of the woman who was brutally assaulted in Teller County last week. Briena Louise Karlik is currently in critical condition at a local hospital following the attack. The Teller County Sheriff’s Office reports that Karlik’s dog also suffered severe injuries, losing an eye after undergoing surgery.

Karlik was assaulted in a camper near Cripple Creek, and while details remain scarce, the sheriff’s office is actively investigating the case. Her mother issued a statement expressing the severity of her daughter’s injuries, noting that Karlik faces multiple surgeries to address damage to her lungs, brain, and broken bones. “Brie did not deserve the brutality that she experienced and may never recover from,” her mother shared.
