Tax season is officially underway, at least at the federal level, as the IRS began accepting tax returns yesterday.

However, Colorado taxpayers hoping to file their federal and state returns at the same time will have to wait a bit.

The website Revenue Online, the state’s e-file system, said 2023 returns for individual and business taxes are “coming soon” and that people should check back in early February.

Regardless of when the state begins processing returns, the deadline for sending in your Colorado tax return is the same as the IRS deadline: April 15th

Federal income tax returns can vary by person, but all Colorado taxpayers can expect a refund this year under the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights.  Single filers can expect an $800 TABOR refund, while those filing jointly will receive double that, or $1,600.
