Heart of the Rockies Radio, in partnership with Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce and the Vaqueros, is once again rallying the community to raise funds for this year’s Chaffee County Shop with a Cop program. This annual event brings joy to deserving students from Buena Vista and Salida, offering them the chance to shop for Christmas gifts alongside local law enforcement officers.
Officers from the Buena Vista and Salida Police Departments, deputies from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado State Patrol troopers, as well as Parks and Wildlife and AHRA personnel, accompany selected students on a festive shopping trip. Students, chosen by their teachers, get to pick out gifts for their families and enjoy lunch and ice cream as part of the fun.
To help fund this meaningful event, a special Chamber of Commerce “Business After Hours” fundraiser will be held at the Golf Cabin Bar and Grill on Friday, October 11th. For a $10 entry fee, you can enjoy food, drinks, and bid on silent auction items, with all proceeds going to the Shop with a Cop program.
In addition, a four-man golf scramble will take place earlier in the afternoon on the same day. Entry fee for the scramble is $100 per team. To reserve your spot, contact the Salida Golf Course.
Last year, more than 20 students and their families benefited from this program, and your generous support will help even more kids have a Merry Christmas this year. If you would like to donate an item for the silent auction, please call Heart of the Rockies Radio at (719) 539-2575.
