Authorities are investigating a report of a sexting incident allegedly involving a Custer County School student and a faculty member.
According to a press release from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, a school resource deputy was alerted to the alleged incident on February 16.
Because one of the individuals involved is related to a member of the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Shannon Byerly requested the Salida Police Department assist the investigation. An investigator from Salida Police is working with the District Attorney’s Office.
Byerly said the Custer County Sheriff’s Office will not be involved in the investigation to ensure a fair and impartial investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, and no one has been arrested and no charges have been filed.
