The Forest Service is conducting a prescribed in the Mt. Shavano area and smoke will be visible again today.

The project involves burning up to 915 acres near Droney Gulch, six miles northwest of Poncha Springs. Temporary road closures of portions of Forest Service Roads 250, 250A, 250B, 251 and 255 will be necessary to provide for public safety. Other roads in the area will be open to provide alternate access options. 

Fire personnel will monitor the burn until the fire is completely out.
