Several local businesses have reached out to Salida Schools about solicitors who have requested donations that they claim will support the school district and student athletics or activities. The district does not currently use any third party solicitors to gather donations, and these unsanctioned requests are misleading and don’t support local athletics or activities as suggested.

Salida Schools is very thankful for the support of local businesses and community members for their donations that enhance district supported activities, athletics, and clubs. Unfortunately, some groups or individuals take advantage of the community support and reach out directly for “donations” or claim to sell advertising with a portion of the funds going to the school district.

The district asks that donations be made directly to the activity or athletic team, support through the athletic and academic booster clubs, or through district sanctioned parent lead organizations. The district has created a document to help community members understand the best ways to make donations to directly support the schools, activities, and athletic programs local students participate in. (The document is attached for reference.)

If there are any questions about the validity of any fundraising efforts, people are encouraged to reach out to Cassie Luttrell, Activities Assistant at 719-530-5406 or cluttrell@salidaschools.org with any questions.
