The website Out There Colorado has ranked Salida as the number 1 “overlooked mountain town you should visit” in Colorado.
Author Spencer McKee said Salida is his number 1 mountain town to visit for a lot of reasons, including amenities available and the wide range of outdoor recreation opportunities found locally.
McKee told his readers that if you stop by Salida, check out one of the nearby fourteeners, hire a rafting guide, or simply enjoy the local cuisine—he recommended pizza, but he didn’t specify which one.
