Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center Membership and Access Pass Price Increase

The Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center Membership and Access Pass prices will increase by 10%, effective February 6, 2023.

Every year, city-wide, we evaluate and update our fees or they remain the same depending on the need. Individual daily entry fees to the Aquatic Center increased 30% in 2022 to account for 10 years of stagnant pricing. Memberships and Access Passes were only raised 10% in 2022 because it was determined that these are targeted to the local community. This year is the second in a three-year plan to raise the rates to the appropriate 30% increase from 2021.

Additional modifications have been made to enhance the benefits and value of Salida Parks & Recreation offerings:

  • NEW: Infants ages 2 and under now have free entry into the Aquatic Center (previously $4)
  • NEW: Aquatic fitness classes and most special events are now included with a membership or access pass. Exclusions: Underwater Easter Egg Hunt and Floating Pumpkin Patch (discounts available to members)
  • 5-15% discount, depending on the type of Aquatic Center membership, to Salida Parks & Recreation-run programs, memberships/passes, classes, special events, and leagues
  • Installment billing is available at no additional charge for 3, 6, and 12-month memberships
  • Scholarships of $150 per person/per year to those that qualify, which can be applied to Salida Parks & Recreation-run programs, memberships/passes, classes, special events, and leagues
  • Monthly discount/free days at the Aquatic Center

Background

Our City relies upon fees to provide many services to its customers and citizens. The Salida Municipal Code authorizes the operations of the City and provides for the establishment and amendment of fees for various City services. Occasionally new services are offered and additional regulations are implemented which also require the addition or amendment of fees charged by the City. The City Clerk’s office wants to ensure that all fee schedules relating to all departments within the City are updated and streamlined within the amended 2023 Schedule of Fees.

All department heads and relevant staff have contributed towards their respective schedules, which can be found in Exhibit A, following the Resolution in the 12/20/22 City Council Regular Meeting packet at https://www.cityofsalida.com/meetings. We believe this is an important step for ease of use and transparency for all citizens and customers. The changes to fees reflect the increasing costs of providing services to the community.
