A fire in Salida is being investigated as arson.
On July 29th at 10:30 pm, both the Salida Fire and Police Department were dispatched to a fire at 610 Walnut St.
The fire started outside the residence along a wooden fence. The fence caught fire, causing the fire to spread to the neighboring property. The fire began burning the neighboring trailer as Salida Fire arrived. By 10:36 pm the Fire Department had water on the structure and the fire was extinguished by 10:40 pm.
Once the Fire was extinguished, Police and Fire personnel examined the area of the fire. It was determined to have been started as a result of the negligence a person.
Due to this, the Salida Police Department canvased the area. Multiple witnesses were interviewed as well as the homeowner of 610 Walnut. The Police Department then contacted CBI to obtain a Fire Investigator to process the scene.
