Salida City Clerk Sonia Walter was killed Sunday as the result of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 285 over Poncha Pass.

The Colorado State Patrol is reporting that Walter was southbound when icy roads caused her car to swerve in to the northbound lane where it collided with a truck driven by an 83-year-old man from Commerce City.

Walter was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Both parties were wearing seatbelts and no drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
