The Salida Public Works Department has roadway capital projects planned for 2021.

This includes numerous work locations for reconstruction, utility related improvements, and improvements to sidewalk, curb and gutter, and crosswalks.

Improvements to East Crestone Avenue and 3rd Street intersection are scheduled to occur between mid-March through April. This project includes intersection realignment and utility work.

Poncha Boulevard and 3rd Street intersection improvements are scheduled to occur between mid-April and mid-June. This project includes sidewalk, curb & gutter, bike lanes, intersection realignment, and green space enhancements. This work will provide improved pedestrian mobility between the mesa area and the downtown and safety improvements to the intersections.

Other street reconstruction work including B Street from 1st Street to Park Avenue and I Street from Sackett Avenue to 1st Street are scheduled to occur later in the year. These project locations include street rehabilitation and utility improvements.

Each of these projects are expected to have periodic closures and detours established throughout the course of construction with limited access to local traffic.  We look forward to improving our City streetscapes with the completion of these projects.

Danny “Dan R” Ridenour has been in radio and television broadcasting for over 40 years, starting as a senior in high school in Rogers, Arkansas. His radio career has had stops in Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma, and eventually, Colorado. Dan enjoys being involved in the community, having been a member of the Upper Arkansas Service Club and is currently on the board of directors for the Salida Community Center and is a member of the Chaffee County Fair Committee. He and his wife Carrie spend their days doing everything the mountains have to offer: hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. They've raised 3 children and have 2 grandchildren.
