On February 20, 2024, Rebeca (Becky) Lewis passed away peacefully in her home at Brookdale Assisted Living in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Rebeca was born March 4,1939 to Stuart and Violet Hamley of Meadow Grove, Nebraska where she was raised. Becky earned her Registered Nurse accreditation from Sacred Heart Nursing School in Yankton, South Dakota after graduating from Meadow Grove High School.
On August 13, 1960, Becky married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, S. Jerry Lewis who was also from Meadow Grove. Shortly after, the newlyweds moved to Denver, Colorado where Becky started her nursing career at Rose Hospital where she worked as an R.N. for several years. Becky and Jerry made Colorado their lifelong home. Becky loved being a stay-at-home mom with her children. Jerry was a corporate pilot for an oil company which moved them back to the Denver area in 1980 where they lived until March 1984.
In March 1984, Becky and Jerry’s dream of living in the mountains and owning their own campground came true. The couple purchased Pleasant Valley R.V. Park in Howard, Colorado which they ran very successfully until the summer of 1995 when they retired and moved a few miles away to Swissvale, Colorado.
Becky was strong in her Lutheran faith and was an active member of several Lutheran Churches including St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Meadow Grove where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. First Lutheran Church in Salida, Colorado, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Canon City, Colorado, and most recently Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Centennial, Colorado.
