SALIDA, CO – QPR Suicide Prevention Training to be Offered in Salida- Free Community Education Event to Raise Awareness and Save Lives Suicide prevention starts with awareness, education, and action. In collaboration with Solvista Health, Chaffee County Public Health is offering a free QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention Training to equip community members with life saving skills.

The session will take place this Friday, March 28, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Touber Building (Tenderfoot Room), 448 E. 1st St., Salida.

QPR is an evidence-based suicide prevention program designed to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives through practical and proven intervention strategies. The 1.5-hour course is open to anyone ages 18 and up and will teach participants:
● How to recognize warning signs of suicide
● Facts vs. myths about suicide
● How to intervene using the QPR Gatekeeper approach

This essential training empowers individuals—regardless of background—to make a difference in the life of someone struggling with suicidal thoughts. By learning to question, persuade, and refer, participants can help guide at-risk individuals toward the support they need. The training is free, but registration is required. A minimum of six participants is needed to hold the session. To sign up, contact Annie Ruiter at 719-221-0379 or email aruiter@chaffeecounty.org.
