Barry Morphew is a free man.
Early today, District Attorney Linda Stanley filed a motion to dismiss the murder case against Barry Morphew. Judge Ramsey Lama agreed to the motion to dismiss without prejudice.
“Dismissing without prejudice” means that the case will be dismissed for now but could be refiled at a future date.

In the motion, Stanley cites the inability to search for Suzanne’s remains as a factor in the motion. She writes, “the People and law enforcement believe we are close to discovering the victim’s body. The People were hopeful that the search for, and the discovery of, the victim’s body would be concluded well before trial, but weather has complicated the efforts.”
Morphew was charged with first-degree murder in connection with May 2020 disappearance and presumed death of his wife Suzanne. His trial had been set to begin April 28.
