A procession of first responders will take place this morning in honor of Chaffee County Sheriff’s Deputy Roy Williams.
Williams passed away November 5th. The 28-year-old served honorably in the United States Army and completed tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Roy began his career in law enforcement with the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office in January of 2018.
The procession will begin at 10:30 am today and travel through Buena Vista on Highway 24 to Highway 285. The procession will continue south on 285 and then travel east on Highway 291 to F Street in Salida, south on F Street to Highway 50 west leaving the Salida City limits.
A private ceremony will be held in William’s honor at the commencement of the procession.
A Go Fund Me account has been set up in Roy’s name. Funds will be used to offset any unforeseen costs the family incurs. All other funds will be donated to veterans suffering from PTSD.
