The U.S. Forest Service has closed a six-mile section of the Rainbow Trail to bicycle traffic.
The Rainbow Trail from Forest Service Road 101 (Bear Creek) to Forest Service Road 108 (Methodist Mountain) is closed to motorized and non-motorized wheeled traffic. Heavy rains within the Decker Fire burn scar have washed out large sections of the trail.
Overnight camping within the Decker Fire burn area is also prohibited. Public safety concerns, including flooding, rolling rocks, and falling trees, prompted the camping closure earlier in the season.
It will remain open for hikers, though caution is advised.
