The Pike and San Isabel National Forests will begin reopening some recreational facilities in a phased approach beginning today.
Visitors are asked to stay as local as possible when choosing a site to visit and to pack out everything they bring, especially trash.
Stage I fire restrictions remain in effect. Visitors may not build a campfire or use a charcoal grill, smoke, except in an enclosed vehicle or developed campground, or use explosives, including fireworks.
The U.S. Forest Service said in a press release that they are committed to maximizing public access to the national forests while ensuring physical, emotional and psychological safety and well-being of its employees.
