The Buena Vista Demon varsity cross country team was out on Saturday to host their annual home meet.
The Demon girls would cruise to a win, as has become customary for them it seems. Zaila Smith ran a sub 20 time to win the race, with Mallory Salazar taking second. Lake County’s Rose Horning and Adele Horning would finish in 3rd and 4th, before the Demons would send Molly McMurry, Kadance Kelso, and Alexis Santopietro across the line in 5th, 6th and 7th places.
In the boys race, Roston Sherlock would take second place with a time of just over 18 minutes, with Fabian Jimenez of Lake County taking 3rd place behind him. Issac Hutchings and Jack Helmke took 6th and 7th beating the 20 minute time and Sammy Starr would round out the Demons scoring members with an 11th place finish as Buena Vista would take second in the meet as a team behind Manitou Springs.
