Jon and Carie Hallford, the husband-and-wife owners of a Penrose funeral home, pleaded guilty Friday to 191 counts of abuse of a corpse. The charges stem from their operation of a facility where nearly 190 bodies were left to decay in a room-temperature building, and grieving families were given powdered cement instead of ashes.

As part of a plea deal, Jon Hallford faces a 20-year prison sentence, while Carie Hallford could receive 15 to 20 years. Last month, the couple also pleaded guilty to federal charges, admitting to defrauding customers and the federal government. Under that agreement, prosecutors can seek sentences of up to 15 years in prison.

Formal sentencing is scheduled for April 18th.
