SALIDA, Colo.— A collection of original, bovine-themed oil paintings from Salida artist Laura Barton are on display at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) now through March 31 of this year.

Bovines, of the subfamily Bovinae, comprise a diverse group of hooved mammals, including cattle, bison, African buffalo, oxen, water buffalo, yak, and even some antelope – a group for which Barton has a particular affinity. The collection Barton created for this exhibit range in style between Realism, Impressionism and Surrealism, and capture color and light in its many manifestations.

“Recent travel opportunities have provided me with a diverse range of landscapes and wildlife from which to draw inspiration,” explained Barton.

Barton received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa. She owns Barton Design Inc., a graphic design studio based in Salida, Colo., and West Chester, Pa. Barton’s oil landscapes, bird and animal portraits have been on display in numerous galleries and collections both nationally and internationally.

HRRMC displays the work of regional artists each quarter, with an emphasis on the Arkansas Valley. Call 719-530-2217 for more information on exhibiting art at HRRMC.
