A number of new laws take effect in Colorado today.
Beginning today, people can purchase medical and recreational marijuana online, but they would still need to go to the store to pick it up. According to the new law, a licensed retail marijuana store may accept payment online using a credit or debit card for the sale of retail marijuana and retail marijuana products.
Also, you’ll have to be at least 21 if you want to purchase a gun in Colorado. The new law raises the minimum age requirement from 18 to 21. The new law also makes it illegal for an individual to sell any gun to someone younger than 21.
Homeowners can now apply to receive funding to retrofit or improve a house or structure on a homeowner’s property to make it more resilient to wildfires through the Wildfire Resilient Homes Grant Program.
Colorado is also enhancing its ‘Move Over’ law beginning today to provide greater protection for people and their vehicles on the side of the road. This change goes beyond just safeguarding police and emergency responders; it now requires drivers to also move over when passing any disabled vehicle on the side of the road. If you can’t move over, you must slow down to at least 20 mph below the posted speed limit.
Governor Jared Polis has proclaimed today as “Slow Down, Move Over Day” in the state.
