A shooting involving two Canon City Police Department officers Saturday night resulted in the death of a 28-year-old man.   

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is saying the circumstances regarding the shooting are under investigation and the two officers have been placed on administrative leave per department policy.     

According to the CBI, officers made contact with the man after a traffic stop on Highway 50.  At some point during the incident, shots were fired by the two officers.  Members of the Canon City Police Department were not injured in the incident.   

The driver died on the scene.  Authorities are not releasing his name at this time.  An unidentified 20-year-old male passenger of the vehicle was also shot, and authorities stated he is expected to survive his injuries. 

CBI stated that additional details will be released as they become available.
