The City of Salida is continuing its efforts to improve Oak Street, with ongoing construction work between Walnut Street and Illinois Avenue. To expedite the construction schedule and facilitate the removal of the existing roadway, Oak Street will be fully closed between Park Avenue and south of Illinois through Friday.
Despite the closure, access to local residences and businesses along Oak Street will be maintained via side streets and alleyways. The current phase of work is focused on laying the groundwork for the final improvements, which will include upgraded roads, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and other necessary infrastructure. These enhancements are designed to keep traffic moving smoothly while ensuring the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists.
After a break for the winter, the final phase of the project is expected to be completed next summer.
