No Open Burning Due To High Fire Danger

Per Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze there will be no open burning allowed on Friday, April 22nd, due to forecasted high winds and dry fuels creating a chance of higher fire danger.

Gusty winds, warm temperatures, and very dry air will lead to critical fire weather conditions again. Fire danger will become even more widespread today with winds gusting to 70 mph.

The Bureau of Land Management has issued Stage I Fire Restrictions for all BLM lands within Lake, Teller, Park, El Paso, Fremont, Chaffee, and Custer counties.

Prohibited under Stage I Restrictions: building a campfire except within fire grates at approved campgrounds, smoking-except within a closed vehicle or building, operating a chainsaw without a spark arrester, and the use of exploding targets.

Park County has also issued an all-out Burn Ban.
