The Chaffee County Commissioners are approaching the final phase of the public hearing for the Nestlé Waters of North America permit to consider a ten year extension of an existing 1041 Permit for a spring water production process in Johnson Village.

The 1041 Permit Authority has been receiving and reviewing extensive public comment throughout the hearing process beginning in October 2020. This has included multiple public meetings addressing the permit extension application and the change in the applicant’s corporate structure. At recent Permit Authority meetings in April and May, the County accepted additional information in connection with the Nestlé 2020 annual report and economic impact studies.

As the 1041 Permit hearing comes to a conclusion, the BOCC is asking that anyone who would like to submit written comments regarding the recent Nestlé annual report and economic impact studies do so no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27th, 2021. This deadline ensures the comments can be added to the 1041 Permit Authority review meeting packets, reviewed by the Permit Authority, and posted to the public site (https://www.chaffeecounty.org/Public-Notices) prior to the next meeting on June 1st.

Written comments may be emailed to the County Administration offices at chaffeeadmin@chaffeecounty.org or hard copy letters may be mailed or hand-delivered to 104 Crestone Ave, Salida, CO 81201. All written comments must be received by close of business on Thursday, May 27th, in order to be included in the permit extension hearing public record.

The 1041 Permit Authority requests that any members of the public who wish to share any additional verbal comments plan to do so at the BOCC meeting on Tuesday, June 1st at 1:00 pm. The meeting will be conducted virtually on zoom  at https://zoom.us/j/109079543 or by calling into 1-669-900-6833 and entering meeting ID # 109 079 543. Public comment is limited to three minutes per person.

The 1041 Permit Authority expects to commence final Nestlé permit extension application review and deliberations beginning at its meeting on June 15th, 2021.
