Train service for the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in southwest Colorado has been interrupted due to mud and rockslides. The tracks just north of Needleton have been covered in rock and debris, rendering them impassable. As a result, the railroad is rerouting both Silverton trains.
Service Adjustments:
- Rerouting: All trains scheduled for Silverton will be rerouted to Cascade Canyon.
- Re-booking: Passengers who had booked excursions to Silverton will be automatically re-booked on the modified trip to Cascade Canyon.
Historical Significance:
- The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad has been in continuous operation for over 140 years.
- The railway is renowned for its scenic routes through the San Juan National Forest, attracting numerous tourists each year.
Passenger Information:
- Impacted Area: The mudslides occurred just north of Needleton.
- Modified Trips: All passengers will experience a modified trip to Cascade Canyon instead of the original Silverton destination.
The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is working to clear the debris and restore normal service as soon as possible. Passengers are advised to check for updates and contact the railroad for further information about their reservations.
