A man was shot in the chest over the weekend while looking at a piece of land west of Poncha Springs.
Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze said in a news release that the man and his wife were looking at a parcel of land for sale in the area of County Road 250 and West Highway 50 on Saturday when the man was shot in the chest. The investigation disclosed that several parties were target practicing in a field south of the victim’s location and it is believed that the man was struck by a ricochet from the weapon of one of the shooters.
The man was transported to Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center where his condition is unknown.
The investigation remains open and active.
