Several infrastructure projects are in progress across Salida to enhance mobility, aesthetics, and functionality in key areas of the city in 2025.

The Downtown Streetscape Project aims to improve accessibility and the pedestrian experience in the downtown area. Key upgrades include new ADA ramps, intersection improvements, replacement of aging water services, and enhanced drainage. The project will introduce new public amenities such as additional bike parking, fixed planter beds, and tree plantings. Removable bollards will be installed to allow for street closures on F Street during special events. This project is funded in part by a grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs.

The Oak Street Improvement Project is transforming a key corridor in Salida. The redesign includes new bike lanes, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, utility upgrades, and drainage improvements. The first phase, completed in 2024, focused on the stretch of Oak Street from the Highway 50 intersection to B Street. Future phases will extend these improvements further to Elm Avenue. This project is funded in part by grants from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The West Highway 291 Improvement Project will bring similar upgrades to another vital corridor in Salida. The project spans from Rush Drive near the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center to M Street east of Marvin Park. Upgrades will include bike lanes, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and essential utility and drainage improvements. Construction is planned for next year.

Additionally, the City of Salida is planning a Safe Routes to School project to improve pedestrian connections. This project is anticipated for 2026 but is contingent on funding.
