The Bureau of Land Management has named Kalem Lenard as Assistant Field Manager in the Royal Gorge Field Office.

This new position will incorporate the duties of the previous RGFO river manager – working with the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area – with oversight of Browns Canyon National Monument, oversight of the RGFO recreation program, and oversight and supervision of portions of RGFO’s range management program in the Salida area.

BLM RGFO Field Manager Keith Berger said this new position will allow the BLM to provide additional input and focus on many of the important partnerships and activities in the Salida area, including implementation of the Browns Canyon National Monument Resource Management Plan.

In his previous position as RGFO assistant field manager for renewable resources, Lenard established and improved key partnerships in the Cañon City and Salida areas. Berger said he anticipates that the majority of Lenard’s new duties will be focused on the Salida area. Therefore, he will work out of the U.S. Forest Service Salida Ranger District office much of the time.

Lenard will start his new role in early August.
