Leadville Police Chief Dan Trelka is urging residents and businesses to be vigilant after counterfeit $20 bills were recently intercepted at a local gas station.
The gas station unknowingly accepted 13 fake bills during a single transaction. While the counterfeit bills look convincing, they contain a significant error: instead of saying “The United States of America,” they read “The United States of Money.”
Police are currently reviewing surveillance footage but have yet to identify any suspects.
