A judge has ordered a competency review for Eric Escobedo, the man charged with murdering a couple in their Howard home in 2022.
Escobedo is facing two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of 83-year-old Carl Cooper and 75-year-old Susan Cooper. The couple was found dead in their home on County Road 4 after deputies responded to a structure fire in their neighborhood.
The results of the competency review are expected to be discussed in court on May 1.
