Independence Pass will not open for the Memorial Day weekend. The Colorado Department of Transportation has announced that due to late snowfall and poor road conditions, the opening has been delayed until June 1st. Additional snowfall is possible over the high country during the 3-day weekend.
As previously reported, Cottonwood Pass, which connects Chaffee and Gunnison counties, will open for the summer season tomorrow.
