The Grizzly Creek Fire has grown to 4,800 acres with 0% containment. I 70 through Glenwood Canyon remains closed in both directions from MM 116 to MM 140.   

The Colorado Department of Transportation is advising westbound motorist to take U.S. 24 to Highway 285 to Poncha Springs where they can take Highway 50 to Grand Junction. Eastbound travelers are being advised to take the same route, going from Highway 50 to Poncha Springs and then 285 to 24.   

Yesterday, CDOT closed Highway 82, Independence Pass, because it was being used as an alternate route causing safety issues. Independence Pass will remain closed as long as the I 70 closure lasts.   

The Pine Gulch Fire burning north of Grand Junction is now one of the largest wildfires in Colorado history.   

The Pine Gulch Fire is now listed at 58,000 acres.   

The fire is burning 18-miles north of Grand Junction in Mesa and Garfield counties, and the rough terrain has made firefighting difficult. Containment remains at 7 percent.
