Chaffee County residents are encouraged to clear out their sheds, barns, garages, and under-the-sink cabinets of hazardous items tomorrow during Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Day. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds.
Accepted items include used oils, antifreeze, solvents, thinners, light bulbs, fire extinguishers, pesticides, paints, and propane cylinders. Items that will not be accepted are explosives, ammunition, fire alarms, radioactive waste, commercial wastes, appliances, and electronic waste.
This recycling day is organized in partnership with the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association, with support from Chaffee County, the City of Salida, and the Towns of Buena Vista and Poncha Springs.
