The Highway 50/285 intersection improvement project in Poncha Springs is entering its final stages as critical components have finally arrived. After a month-long delay, the signal pole and mast arms needed to complete the project were delivered yesterday.
Crews quickly set the signal pole, and tonight, beginning at 7 PM, the mast arms spanning Highway 50 will be installed. Motorists should plan for approximately three-hour delays, including 15-minute traffic holds during this operation.
Today’s schedule also includes the final pour for the intersection island. To stay ahead of the forecasted storm, crews will work this Sunday to ensure progress remains on track.
If all goes as planned, the Colorado Department of Transportation anticipates opening the upgraded intersection by Wednesday, November 27th, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Motorists are encouraged to drive cautiously around the work zone as crews finalize the project.
