With fire danger on the rise, the National Weather Service has issued a warning for elevated wildfire risk through the weekend across central Colorado.

In response, the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office has issued a ban on all outdoor burning, effective today through Monday. The ban includes:

  • Campfires (even in fire rings)
  • Open flame cooking (e.g., charcoal grills)
  • Agricultural and debris burning

Residents are urged to take extra precautions and report any signs of smoke or fire activity immediately.
