Heavy Snow Likely to Cause Difficult Weekend Travel Conditions

The Colorado Department of Transportation advised travelers to use caution and plan ahead as a winter storm hits the state.

Motorists should be prepared for heavy traffic along the I 70 mountain corridor and should be prepared for chain and traction laws.  Extreme caution is advised if driving in the mountains.  Avalanche mitigation operations will occur on several passes across the state through the weekend.

You are urged to take it slow, leave a safe space behind the vehicle ahead, don’t pass plows and avoid driving during the height of the storm.

Backcountry enthusiasts should expect the avalanche danger to increase dramatically during the weekend.
