Chaffee County Veterans Service Office welcomes Leisl Hammond, a native of Chaffee County and 23-year Army veteran, as its new Veterans Service Officer.
Leisl combines substantial military experience including international strategic and operational medical planning and crisis response with her love of the Chaffee County community into her role as the VSO. Hammond earned a Masters of Business Administration from National University and Political Science degree from Colorado State University.
Ms Hammond is available through cell phone (719-239-4678) and email (VSO@chaffeecounty.org) from 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. She will hold regular in-person office hours at the Veterans Service Office located in the Touber Building (448 E 1st Street, Room 134, Salida) every Thursday from 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. and will accommodate Friday appointments upon request.
“I look forward to connecting with our veterans and providing support and assistance. I encourage them to reach out to me at any time with any needs or just to make an introduction,” shared Hammond.
Veterans are also invited to meet Ms Hammond at the monthly Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3820 meetings each third Thursday of the month beginning October 21.
The County also thanks Cathy Sadeik who retired as Chaffee County’s VSO in August following 5.5 years of service in that role.
Chaffee County’s Veterans Service Office works to help our veterans apply for Veterans Administration (VA) benefits and address healthcare claims, and provides ground transportation to most VA medical appointments in Colorado.
