This past Sunday I had the pleasure to be part of the Ark-Valley Humane Society volunteer and foster appreciation event. It was so much fun to meet everyone and share our favorite animal stories. Although we do not run into each other often as we donate our time, we quickly discovered, we have a special bond which is helping out and caring for the animals at AVHS.
The event also gave me the opportunity, as an AVHS board member to thank all our amazing volunteers and fosters for the incredible work they do.
One of the perks of being a board member is helping at these fun events. I look forward to our May 18, Tails on the Trail run/walk for the animals, as I once again get to oversee the “balloon pop” activity where you pop a balloon and get a gift card. Families including pets, of course, have so much fun at Tails on the Trail, running the 5K race or cheering others on and gathering afterwards at the Steam Plant for food and festivities.
Serving on the board of directors for our shelter is an honor and one of the most rewarding ways I have found to serve the shelter and our community. I love animals. Their care and welfare is one of my passions. As a board member, I become an ambassador for what I love, believe in, and care about.
Perhaps such a heartwarming, worthwhile adventure appeals to you. If so, and to learn more, please contact Allison Gergley, chair@ark-valley.org or Nikki Ritter, executivedirector@ark-valley.org.
Get On Board for AVHS. It is a spectacular “ride.”
