A month after Nederland canceled its 2023 Frozen Dead Guy Days, a plan has been approved to bring the festival back to life in Estes Park.
Over St. Patrick’s Day weekend 2023, the festival will welcome guests to the historic, and probably haunted, Stanley Hotel.
Frozen Dead Guy Days celebrates the true story of “Grandpa” Bredo Morstel, who died in 1989. His grandson had him cryogenically preserved in the hopes he could one day re-animate him. Since that time, about 1,000 pounds of dry ice is brought in evert two weeks to cover Morstel’s frozen sarcophagus.
In November, organizers of the Nederland celebration decided to cancel the event for 2023.
Danny “Dan R” Ridenour has been in radio and television broadcasting for over 40 years, starting as a senior in high school in Rogers, Arkansas. His radio career has had stops in Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma, and eventually, Colorado. Dan enjoys being involved in the community, having been a member of the Upper Arkansas Service Club and is currently on the board of directors for the Salida Community Center and is a member of the Chaffee County Fair Committee. He and his wife Carrie spend their days doing everything the mountains have to offer: hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. They've raised 3 children and have 2 grandchildren.
