Penrose, CO – One of Fremont County’s most-wanted violent fugitives was apprehended this week following a brief standoff, according to the United States Marshals Service. Richard Capek, 35, was arrested near Highway 50 east of Penrose.

Capek faced multiple outstanding felony warrants, including assault, violation of a protection order, and domestic violence. In addition, he is a suspect in a burglary that took place on June 11th, during which firearms were stolen from a home in Rockvale.

The successful capture of Capek marks a significant achievement for law enforcement in Fremont County. Authorities have been actively pursuing him due to the serious nature of his alleged crimes.

Capek was booked into the Fremont County Jail and will face charges related to his warrants and the recent burglary.
