Fremont County offices will remain closed today, Aug. 22nd, after a cyber security attack last week.
Officials were alerted last Wednesday of the cyber security event that impacted county government systems. Fremont County Commissioner Debbie Bell said there is no indication that city- and state-managed systems were compromised.
The Fremont County Courthouse remains open. The court system uses a separate computer system from the rest of the county.
Fremont County is not the only Colorado community to be targeted by cybercriminals this summer. The Gunnison County Treasurer was hit by a $1 million cyber fraud scheme and the Town of Frederick fell victim to ransomware in late July.
