The Colorado State Patrol received multiple calls Tuesday reporting a vehicle being driven recklessly on Highway 285 in Park County.
A Trooper was in the area looking for the vehicle when he observed the vehicle crash in front of him. The Trooper stopped and noticed that the driver had been ejected and was lying on the ground next to the vehicle; the driver was unresponsive. Multiple off duty firefighters stopped to assist and began CPR while the Trooper searched the area for additional victims.
Life saving measures were unsuccessful and the driver was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver has been identified as a 69-year-old female from Aurora.
Highway 285 between Highway 9 and Highway 24 was closed for 4 hours while the crash was investigated. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
