Travellers can expect road construction on US 24, east of Florissant, US 285 at Fairplay, and Highway 50 east of Maysville and between Gunnison and Monstrose.

Traffic stops of 30 minutes should be anticipated on US 24 just east of Florissant today for rock removal and cleanup operations. This is part of a project to remove 1,500 feet of rock slope along the north side of the highway and widen the shoulders, improving the sight distance for drivers.

Intersection improvement is underway at the US 285/Colorado 9 intersection on the southside of Fairplay. The project involves road widening to accommodate additional traffic lanes, new signals and sidewalks. The project also is replacing the obsolete Middle Fork bridge on 285, just south of the intersection. One lane alternating traffic can be expected with delays of up to 10 minutes.

Also, road work continues on Highway 50 just east of Maysville. Construction includes shoulder work, pavement widening and lane reconfiguration.

Delays and closures continue on Highway 50 through Little Blue Creek Canyon between Gunnison and Montrose. For a closure schedule, go to us50info.com.

And be aware that the Colorado Department of Transportation has begun striping operations on Highways 50 and 24.
